Hey, I thought I give an update about the weather that came through Alabama last night and how it effected me and my family.
I live on the north/east portion of Tuscaloosa County, almost into Jefferson county near the center of the state). The tornado system that posed a danger to where I live shadowed the I 20-59 hwy system. Just as it was about 20 miles away, it crossed the hwy and went north of it (I live south of that hwy). Earlier in the day, my sister VaraAnn and I had prepared emergency bags, put the harnesses on the dogs, and checked on the storm shelter at the vacant house next door to us. When that particular storm was getting close, before we knew it had shifted direction, we thought it was heading for us. Vara and I were FREAKING THE HELL OUT. So we went to the storm shelter with everything we had prepared with the dogs and we stayed in the shelter for about an hour. The lightning that was over us, OMG like every second there was lightning.
When we realized that storm had changed direction, we headed back to our house. As we were watching the news, they said that it was heading towards Bessemer which is where my older sister and grandmother live. The tornado system that passed us later developed into a tornado nearby them, and destroyed a bowling alley and several other businesses. My grandmother and sister were not affected by it but where the tornado touched down was atleast 5-10 miles from them.
I had work at 3am this morning and on my way I didn't see any damage with the path I took.
Sadly, I've heard of atleast 7 people dying, 1 from the one that was heading towards us in Tuscaloosa. :C
