Self Portrait: Earth

This painting is from my Human Portrait painting class. The assignment was paint four portraits of ourselve with a dialouge between all 4. My dialouge turned into more of a theme, and I went with the 4 notable elements (earth, air, fire, water). Originally, I was going to have one face being punched and the others reacting. I wish I had done that now, but I still like this theme.

This one was originally suppose to be fire, but at one of the critiques, my classmates said it looked like Earth; because of the green. I changed it from there to represent Earth better by adding green highlights to certain areas. Overall, I'm pleased with how this projects is going.
